South University of Science and Technology of China (SUSTC>>) has been designated to lead a comprehensive reform on China's higher education system and to serve as a model for cultivating innovative talents. Established in 2011, SUSTC has since received worldwide attentions for its ambitious mission to revamp the higher education system in China. (Science, 8 April 2011, p.161 >>)
45 high-school students were admitted to SUSTC's inaugural class in 2011 exempted from "Gaokao", the college entrance exam in China. Luckily, I was a member of them. We were attracted by SUSTC's emphasis on academics and its ambitious goal to become a top-tier university and intellectual powerhouse. Now, we have graduated from SUSTC. Most of us are pursuing post-graduate study in world-class universities around the world and some are working in Technology or Finance oriented companies in China.
I am so so proud to be a member of SUSTC's inaugural class --- "Bananers"! We all love banana!
The sense of social responsibility and the skills to perform research are the most important things I've learned at SUSTC. That's 'Enter to grow in wisdom, depart to serve better the country and the kind!'
Now is Bananers' showtime:) Enjoy the photo gallery of Bananers!
